Arizona Hunting Club Offers Online Hunting Workshop for New Hunters that Want to Learn How to Hunt on March 13, 2008

Gilbert, AZ, February 15, 2008 - The Arizona Hunting Club & Outdoor Adventure Group announced a new online Arizona Hunting Workshop that will teach novice and experienced hunters how to improve their hunting success rates dramatically.

The hunting workshop provides an online, 65-page Arizona Hunting Workbook that is full of hunting information, photographs and diagrams that will teach students how to successfully hunt big game animals such as deer and elk in Arizona. The hunting workbook allows new hunters to educate themselves on the latest and greatest hunting techniques, hunting strategies and hunting tactics that will teach anyone how to harvest an elk or deer successfully in 2008. The easy-to-ready, online format allows users to study at a time and place that is convenient for them.

Using the Arizona Hunting Workbook, students will learn to identify plants that deer and elk like to eat, how to pick stock tanks with the best hunting potential and how to locate nearby bedding areas where the animals like to bed down during the day. The hunting workbook also includes photographs, diagrams, topographic maps and 3D satellite aerial imaging programs that teach students how to scout and what to look for in any hunting unit in Arizona from the comfort of their own living room sofa. All they need is a personal computer and a broadband internet connection.

"For the last couple of years, we have spent a great deal of time working with local wildlife management groups in Arizona to help parents and their children try to locate deer and elk on several different junior hunts," said Robert Hoskins, the Arizona Hunting Club's President. "What we realized is that due to the drawing system in Arizona, many of the people that get drawn for a deer or elk hunting tag have never drawn a hunting tag before and do not possess the basic hunting skills needed to locate animals and successfully harvest them."

"What some people don't realize is that to become a successful hunter in Arizona, it requires a little bit more than buying a firearm and a box of shells at Wal-Mart and then driving the dirt roads in the forest looking for a place to hunt," Hoskins continued. "Last year we brought more than 100 pre-printed hunting maps designed to show parents and their children where some well researched hunting spots were located, but not a single hunter was equipped with the Global Positioning System (GPS) units needed to track down the specified stock tanks, feeding areas and bedding areas where animals could be located."

The key to successful hunting is planning. Once a hunter draws a deer or elk hunting tag, they should spend several months studying the animal they will be hunting, its daily habits and its preferred habitat. Doing so will help a hunter understand when the deer and/or elk like to feed, when they like to get a drink of water and where they like to bed down during the day.

Next, they should begin researching national forest maps, topographic maps and satellite aerial photography images to build a preliminary scouting plan on where they think the most animals might be located in their selected hunt unit. Then they should take their family camping in those areas to scout for and locate animals prior to their hunting trip.

This is why most people fall short of their goal. They simply think that they do not have the time, the knowledge or the skills to research and pattern deer and elk movements prior to their hunt.

What they do not realize is that today’s technology tools make it very easy to scout an area from any computer with a broadband Internet connection. If they could just spend 10-20 hours researching their hunting unit using a personal computer, then plan at least one weekend camping trip to scout for animals in the areas they plan to hunt prior to their hunting trip, their hunting success rate would go up 100%.

The sign up form for the Arizona Hunting Workshop, which costs $15 dollars to attend, is available online at www.arizonahuntingclub.com/huntingworkshopsignup.asp.
